Week 27

I'm coming around the bend on my second trimester, and as you can see from the countdown on the side of my blog, this baby is speedily approaching! I'll start with the picture, since I know that's what most of you come here for anyway :)

For any other interested parties, this past week saw a couple of new milestones.

Firstly, I officially had to buy some maternity clothes. Last week (though I hid it in my picture) my shirts were starting to creep up on my belly and I was constantly pulling them down, which finally got annoying enough that I relented and went out and bought some maternity clothes. So far I've purchased 2 pairs of pants and 3 shirts. I also have 2 maternity shirts I'd purchased earlier, but they were entirely too big at the time... I'm sure they'll make it into the rotation in the near future.

Second milestone was I was sitting at work, minding my own business when all of a sudden I felt a kick. Nothing unusual, right? The baby has been kicking for weeks now, but I looked down at my ever growing belly and then I saw it... it wasn't anything huge, but it was definitely a small bulge protruding from the side of my belly at the exact same moment I felt another kick in the same area... "Did that really just happen?" I thought to myself as I stared intently at my belly. Then it happened again. I immediately grabbed my phone and text Bryce: "I JUST SAW MY BELLY MOVE!!!" It was totally crazy and really neat, I kept staring at my belly hoping it would happen again and again, but eventually I decided I should get back to work and there would be plenty more moving belly experiences in the next 3 months.

Beyond that we've mostly got the nursery painted... and I know I've said that in previous posts, but this time we're really closer. I actually was awoken in the middle of the night a few days ago to what sounded like a scraping sound on my bedroom wall. I laid there for a moment, thinking I'd imagined it, but then I heard it again, and again, and again... I turned over and saw that Bryce hadn't come to bed yet and there was light peeking in under our bedroom door, so I rolled myself out of bed and went into the bright hallway and saw light coming from the nursery. I went over to find Bryce, deeply concentrating, on painting the top of the nursery walls (along the ceiling) with this "magical" painting device (you know, one of those "as seen on TV" things that is supposed to change your life!) we'd purchased a couple of weeks before. When he didn't apply the right around of pressure, it scraped along the wall, which is what I was hearing from our bedroom. He was just about done when I appeared in the doorway, however, we have run into one little problem in our painting adventure... you see, we have textured walls and no little edging device we've tried (and we've tried a few) can get close enough to the edge where the wall and ceiling meet, because the texture from the ceiling prevents it. So unless we want to spend lots of time painting the edge by hand (which we don't, because neither of us has the patience to do it well) we've decided we have a few options.

1) Leave a very small cream edge along where the ceiling and walls meet (which personally I think would drive me crazy.)

2) Put up some kind of crown molding around the entire room.

3) Put up a wallpaper border along the ceiling.

Option 2 is currently winning in my book, but I guess the official decision will be made once we found out what all is involved in putting up crown molding.

Bryce has been back to school now since last week and he seems to be getting into the swing of things. He teaches a zero period class this year which means he has to get to school extra early (the class starts at 6:45am I think) and he gets 2 prep (free) periods during the regular school day. One of those free periods he uses to go to Basketball and the other he spends preparing for the rest of his classes. He seems happy with his schedule and classes so far.

I'm still working and keeping busy with Young Womens. I'm enjoying the relief from that little heat wave we've had the last week or so. I got the results of my Glucose Screening back and found out I passed (yea!) but also found out I'm slightly anemic (boo!) so I have to start taking an extra iron supplement every day. I'm definitely getting more and more forgetful and more awkward and uncomfortable with every passing day... but I'm also getting more excited and anxious as December gets closer and closer! This little baby (seems the masses are leaning towards boy at this point) is ALMOST here! Can you believe it?!

Anyway, check back next week as we embark upon...

THE THIRD TRIMESTER!!!!
