Week 37

Week 37 has pretty much come and gone without a hitch. It's hard to believe that by next week the count down will be in the single digits (of days!!!) I think since last week my belly has done a little popping and a little dropping - check it out for yourself, maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, I had a doctor's appointment last week (I'm going every week now) and they were asking me if I was having any contractions? Swelling? This, that and the other (you know the usually questions they ask) and all my answers were "no" - I pretty much felt like I did at week 32, just a little bigger (okay MUCH bigger... feel free to now compare this week's picture with Week 32 and have a good laugh!) The nurse smiled and said "Sounds like this baby is in no rush to get here" -- GREAT! Hahaha.

This past week we've definitely made some strides in getting ready for the baby's arrival. First, I went to the eye doctor. Now, this may not seem like a big deal, BUT, most of you don't know how BLIND I am without my contacts, and I haven't had a pair of glasses in about 5 years, so I figured, I'm not going to want to put my contacts in every time I get up to fed/change the baby in the night (I'm really THAT blind!) so I decided it was time to get new glasses. They should be coming in next week and I'll be sure to post a picture when they do - I'll just say one thing... they are PURPLE (never ever thought I'd get purple glasses!)

Next, we took our breastfeeding class. It was informative and everything, but I feel like breastfeeding is more of a "learn by doing" sort of thing... so we'll see how it goes when the baby gets here. We also cleaned/organized our bedroom to make room for the bassinet. I should've taken a before/after picture to put up here, it's amazing how much bigger a room can seem when there isn't CRAP all over the floor!! Hm, what else, I started purchasing a few little things so I can put together my hospital bag (just stuff like an extra toothbrush, sample sized shampoo, etc.) Lastly, I informed my boss that December 3rd will be my last day in the office (if the baby doesn't come before then.) That's the day my mom comes into town, so I figured that's a good time to stop coming into the office. He seemed to agreed, so that's nice and settled.

So, it's been a pretty productive week I'd say. Tonight we have our last Birthing Class (much to Bryce's delight) and then we're "ready", right? RIGHT? Hahaha, I don't know that anyone is ever really READY for their first baby, but I'm confidant we'll handle the situation well enough. It's just the whole UNKNOWN thing that's making me the most nervous and anxious... not knowing WHEN the baby will come, not knowing HOW the whole Labor & Delivery thing will go... but I'm looking forward to figuring it all out.

I thought I'd share with all of you faithful followers of this blog, 3 interesting pregnancy/baby related facts I learned this past week:

1.) Only 10-13% of labors begin with the woman's water breaking - the possibility still freaks me out though!

2.) The WHO (World Health Organization) recommends breastfeeding until the age of THREE!

3.) Massage (and various other spa treatments) can sometimes induce Labor (I learned this AFTER I was already planning on getting my Mommy-to-Be massage this weekend... I'll let you know if there's any truth to it haha! It doesn't happen very often I've been told.)

Hm, this has been a busy week (and therefore a long blog entry, I apologize) - So, one of our Vendors at work came in the other day and was asking how things are going and how I'm holding up. I said things were good, I was hanging in and I mentioned I'd been sick a few weeks ago and it's rough because you can't take any medicines. He said "Well, you're past the first trimester now right? So you don't have the morning sickness going on still?" and I just looked him and laughed. I said, "I'm having this baby in about 17 days!" His eyes got SO wide. He was like "No way! You're tiny! When my wife was pregnant she got HUGE" and he did an impression with the puffy cheeks and holding his arms out to demonstrate how HUGE she got. I just laughed and thought to myself "She would LOVE it if she knew you were doing this right now!"

So, should we start taking bets on when we all think this baby is going to get here? It'll be anytime between today and December 12th (my doctor won't let me go more then 1 week over my due date.) So that's 23 days to choose from! Feel free to make a guess in the comments if you like! If anything exciting happens at my doctor's appointment tomorrow I'll post an entry right away... if not, hopefully we'll meet again next week - same time, same place!
