Week 35

And we're back to our regularly scheduled programming... sorry for the missing "Week 34" post (and picture, I'm actually really bummed about it!) I got really sick last week and spent 4 days conked out on my couch. I'm feeling much better and came back to work on Monday - I still have a little residual cough and my voice hasn't fully returned, but I actually have the energy to get up and move around, which is a BIG improvement!

I apologize for 2 pictures in a row wearing purple, I honestly try and mix it up... I was wearing a blue shirt the day before, but forgot my camera, so we had to reschedule the photo shoot!

Anyway, in addition to missing 4 days of work last week, we also had to reschedule the "official" maternity pictures for THIS Saturday (I know, I know, I keep saying that... I really think it'll happen this time though!)

Hm, so what has happened in the last two weeks - I've washed and folded all the baby clothes, bedding, blankets, etc. that I've gotten and we're inching closer to having things ready for the baby's actual arrival. We started birthing class last week and have 3 more classes to complete in addition to a breast feeding class we'll be taking in 2 weeks.

I've been noticing in the last week or so that my appetite (and the amount of food I'm actually able to eat) has been decreasing - the baby just isn't leaving much room for my stomach at this point I guess! I've been sleeping surprisingly well (aside from the whole being sick thing) which has been a pleasant surprise - I've heard it can get harder in the final weeks.

My birthday was a couple of weeks ago and we had a nice and relaxing day just hanging around the house and some of Bryce's family came up for dinner. Bryce got me a very thoughtful gift (he's always a very good gift-giver, but this one was particularly nice.) He got me a "Mommy-to-be" massage at a spa in town. You could tell he was kind of proud of himself when I opened it because he said "I had the idea and then a couple of days later you were complaining about your back hurting and you said you wished you could go get a massage, so I got it for you." It was very sweet. I can't wait to put it to use!!!

The next day we went to see U2 in concert at the Rose Bowl with our friends Steve and Kerri. It was a fun evening - VERY crowded and overwhelming (I heard there was over 100,000 people at the concert) and I don't know if I'd do it again (especially not 8 months pregnant) - but it was a super fun time and I'm really glad that we went.

On the concert note, since I've shared some of the comical things Bryce has said throughout my pregnancy, I feel the need to share something I said the other day. So, many of you are aware of my love for John Mayer, and may or may not know that he's releasing a new CD this month (Nov. 17th!) and going on tour next year. So I got the email announcing the tour dates and immediately start calculating how old the baby will be when the tour comes to LA (3/25) and thinking of potential people I could possibly leave the baby with (and also wondering if I'll actually WANT to leave the baby at that point.) Then I ask Bryce "so when does basketball season officially end?" Curiously he asks why and I explain about the tour and trying to figure out how old the baby will be at the time and Bryce just says (probably holding back a chuckle) "Basketball will be over. I'll stay home with the baby for you" (he doesn't share my love of Johnny) Whew - potential disaster averted! :)

Hm, what else, Bryce said to me last night "we should probably get your bag packed for the hospital, just in case" it was crazy to think about, because really in about a week the baby will no longer be considered pre-mature if I went into labor - can you believe the end is almost here?

So, I think that's about all... we're officially in the "single hand" countdown phase of this whole experience! Thanks for following along! More to come next week!!!
