Week 2

Sorry for the break in actual, written, communication... it's been a crazy couple of weeks, to say the least. I'll start by saying that I am absolutely and completely, totally and utterly in love with Breckin. He is the most precious little baby I have ever laid eyes on... I know I'm biased, but still! These first two weeks have been pretty (I hate to say it) easy. He seems (so far) to be a very mellow baby. He really only cries when he's hungry (which seems to be ALL the time, but it's a quick fix) or when he's getting his diaper changed and he gets cold when having his clothes off.

He's been doing a very good job of sleeping, and we're hoping that habit continues. He's been sleeping about 2-3 hours at a time during the day and 3-4 hours at a time at night, so really, I can't complain because it almost feels like I'm getting full nights of sleep! I'm actually getting up fewer times with him then I was when I was pregnant and having to go to the bathroom 5 times a night! Granted I'm up for LONGER when I do get up with him, but it's only a couple of times a night. He pretty much wakes up, wants to eat, and then goes back to sleep... it's a pretty predictable routine at this point!

We've learned (the hard way) that when we don't swaddle him at night when he's sleeping, he doesn't sleep very well. He would start to fall asleep and then his little body would jolt and he'd wake himself up. When he's swaddled, his arms and legs can't really flail about, which helps keep him asleep I think. Why we didn't figure that out at the time (when we were up ALL night with him it seemed) I don't know, but thankfully the next day we realized what we'd done differently and fixed it and he's back to his regular sleeping pattern.

The last few days Breckin has spent a little more time being awake and not screaming for food, so that's been fun, just getting to look at him and watch him kind of taking in his surroundings, even though I don't know how much he can actually see at this point. I shared this on my Facebook, but should probably document it here as well, it appears Breckin (already) loves Basketball! We've had games playing on the tv a few times in the last week or so and twice he has craned his neck around so he could be facing the tv! Bryce is thrilled!!

Something we've been surprised by is that Breckin already rolls over onto his side. It seems to be his position of choice (especially when we're trying to change his diaper!) He also does a good job of holding up his head. He doesn't do it for long periods of time, but he does do it! Also his legs (while they are incredibly skinny) seem to be really strong. Sometimes when I'm holding him against my chest he'll push up on his legs and I've let go (briefly) and he'll be holding himself up (leaning against me of course, but still!!) It's pretty amazing, we think!

Okay, so that's all I can think of right now. I really just wanted to get these pictures up for everyone to see, but figured I should actually share some of our experiences as well!!! :) If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments!!

Helping Daddy prepare his lesson last Sunday morning!
He still has those chicken legs!

He fell asleep cuddled up against my arm and I couldn't bear to move him, so I sat like that for over an hour, and of course took tons of pictures!

Our first attempt at Tummy Time!

He picked his head up and switched it to the other side!
A visit from our good friend Meghan!

Holding up his head!

Checking out his Daddy!
Here he is trying to watch the tv (with basketball on it!)
We took Breckin to his first basketball game last week!
He did great! Slept through the whole thing!
Breckin and Donette!
Holding onto Daddy's hand while sleeping.
"Look at his wingspan" Bryce said...
"And the size of his hands!" (he's hoping these things mean Breckin will be tall!)
Aunt Britt and Breckin
Grammie and Aunt Britt admiring his cuteness
Gramps and Breckin
Lastly, here's a video we took this past week. It probably makes me a bad mom, because he was REALLY hungry, but it was SO stinkin' cute, we couldn't pass it up! (I promise I fed him right when we finished recording!)
